Shoes A-Z. The Collection of The Museum at FIT opens the footwear archive of The Museum at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York. Edited by curators Colleen Hill and Valerie Steele, with a contribution from Daphne Guinness and illustrations by Robert Nippoldt, this Taschen volume presents more than 400 shoes spanning roughly four centuries, arranged alphabetically by designer and label.
Alongside the shoes you find sketches, advertisements, and photographs from designers' own archives, with curatorial texts on each name's legacy. Louis Vuitton, Salvatore Ferragamo, Chanel, Gucci, Saint Laurent, Roger Vivier, and Christian Louboutin all appear, among many others. It follows Taschen's Fashion Designers A-Z, and it was released as a Famous First Edition, with a first printing of 10,000 numbered copies.
