9" Purple Glass Teardrop Ornament

Magenta on a Christmas tree. We are into it.

The 9" Purple Glass Teardrop Ornament by Winward is drawn into a long, narrow neck that swells into a rounded drop at the base. The purple is saturated and magenta-leaning, brighter than plum, and the glass carries the color deepest through the heavy bottom of the drop and lightest up the neck. Nine inches of length gives the shape room to read as a line rather than a blob.

Purple is an underused holiday color and it works best as contrast, not as a scheme. One or two against green and gold will look intentional and slightly unexpected. Hang teardrops where they can swing free, out near the branch tips or off the underside of a branch, since the shape is lost if it is buried. They are also good past Christmas: group three in a glass cylinder for tabletop styling, or hang them from a brass branch arrangement.
