120mm Brown Glass Ball Ornament by Jim Marvin

Warmer than gold, quieter than copper.

The 120mm Brown Glass Ball Ornament by Jim Marvin is a hand-blown glass Christmas ornament in warm chocolate brown, polished to a mirror gloss. Reads amber in daylight and burnt caramel under tree lights, which is why it sits so easily next to brass, bronze and fresh greenery.

120mm is about 4.75 inches, the workhorse size for a designer Christmas tree. Big enough to hold a branch on its own, small enough to use in quantity, so buy these in fives and sevens rather than ones. Jim Marvin is the name collectors look for in luxury glass ornaments, and glass behaves differently than plastic on a tree: more weight, better light, a finish that photographs. Store it in the box and it comes back every year.

How to Style It:

Hang five to seven at mid-depth as a base layer, then let the 150mm Brown and brighter glass sit in front. Run it with moss green and gold leaf in the same tree and the three of them read as one palette rather than three decisions. For a neutral, woodland or green and brown Christmas, it is the ornament that ties everything together. Off the tree, fill a dough bowl or glass cloche for an easy holiday centerpiece.
