The full story of Pucci's color, print, and Capri glamour, in a hardcover made to be read and loved.
Pucci. Fashion Story is Taschen's 45th Edition tribute to the Italian fashion house known for kaleidoscopic prints and jet set style. Across 512 pages, it gathers hundreds of archival photographs, original sketches, and candid shots from the Emilio Pucci Foundation, with text by Vanessa Friedman, fashion director and chief fashion critic of The New York Times.
The story begins in the early 1950s with a small boutique on Capri selling Capri pants, silk scarves, and lightweight separates. By the end of the decade, Jacqueline Kennedy and Marilyn Monroe were wearing Pucci, and by the mid-1960s the label was shorthand for the international jet set. Emilio Pucci brought featherlight fabrics, pop art prints, and a bold new color palette to womenswear, and was one of the first designers to use a logo and expand into interiors, sportswear, and accessories.
The cover is a swirl of the house's signature print in tangerine, hot pink, sunflower yellow, and cream, an instant hit of color for a coffee table, bookshelf, or nightstand.
